The TV ads with the highest sound volume will end in June. The Regulatory Authority for the Media (ERC) approved a policy that provides for the standardization of loudness in television broadcasts. In other words, the ERC want the volume of advertising is equal to the remaining schedule.

The aim is to ensure that “auditory sensation levels comfortable to the viewer are respected”, as the regulator in a statement . On that note, the ERCA is shown worried about the “nuisance generated by the inconsistency of sound levels among the spectators.”

Thus, the policy states that the level of hearing the loudness of commercial breaks should be set at -23LUFS (English acronym for Loudness Unit Full Scale ) – an LU is equivalent to a decibel

the standards also covers products that have come from other countries.. Cases where the volume of accurate control is not possible, such as emissions in direct, are the exception to the norm. But even here, the deviation must not exceed ± 1LU.

The ERC points out that currently there is software and equipment “widely available on the market”, which allow “want to measure the intensity of sensation level values hearing or its effective control. ”
