IndieLisboa with Portuguese and RoboCop movie – iOnline

IndieLisboa is almost here with a full schedule of Portuguese cinema. There are 40 domestic films in this year’s independent film festival of Lisbon, which runs from April 20 to May 1 at Culturgest, São Jorge Cinema, Portuguese Film and Cinema Ideal, whose programming was on Tuesday announced.

 
 

Among the 289 upcoming films, there will be a retrospective of Paul Verhoeven, with the screening of one of his biggest hits, “RoboCop,” which will be screened in the auditorium of Camões Lyceum since the April 9, at 21.30, and return several filmmakers, said the organization in a press conference.

 
 

The American director Whit Stillman and French filmmaker Mia Hansen-Love will have a prominent role, with the opening and closing of the festival. It will be the Stillman himself to present his film “Love & amp; Friendship, “based on a story of Jane Austen, the first day of the festival, which ends with” L’avenir, “which won this year Mia Hansen-Love the best achievement award in Berlin.


 
 

In special sessions, debut films “Cinema Manoel de Oliveira and I,” John Botelho, “The Your Land” by João Mário Grilo (on the figure and thought of Gonçalo Ribeiro Telles) and “The Island Absent from the “José Vieira (a film-essay on Portuguese emigration in France).

 
 

Among the novelties of this edition, April 23, at the Ideal Cinema, a marathon into the night with movies Hellmouth section, with works by filmmakers who “were not afraid to move in unexplored territories”

 
 

Another highlight is a film-concert the “Rondó the Mourner”, in collaboration with The Days of CCB Music in tribute to the work of Michel Giacometti based on their etnomusicais collections in Portugal, a program that is only complete with the parties. Also on April 9 concert there Grab Monster to see in the Camoes Liceu catacombs, in what will be the first event IndiebyNight this issue.
