Spring in the city. There are many Lisbons to discover – iOnline

If you think that, once the spring has come, at least in the official calendar, Lisbon was stormed by a rainstorm / snowstorm that covered the streets of white, can make us doubt whether this meteorology is something spinning to organize a kind of festival called Spring in the city, but the truth is that there is here no promise of good weather. Only desire.

And it is with this desire that from Saturday, and on 29 and 31 March, 1, 2 and 3 April, the first edition of this spring takes place in the city, a kind of amuse bouche of Festas de Lisboa. “The EGEAC already provides plenty of cultural entertainment on the street, in particular during the Festas de Lisboa in June, but we felt that the occasion of Easter and its coincidence with the beginning of spring was an important and timely to celebrate the city and all what it has to offer, “he told i Joana Gomes Cardoso, president of EGEAC, which organizes this initiative.

everything the city has to offer in this case relates to its monuments and places, but also the different communities and creeds that make up Lisbon, in a direct dialogue with one of the most symbolic Catholic parties. “In addition to the Catholic Easter, with most tradition in Portugal, it seemed important to bring the celebrations of other religious communities that are part of Lisbon and that enrich the city. “But the choice of these dates had another reason to be.

Is that Lisbon increasingly visited by tourists, is particularly busy these days around Easter. Also by this, the program is designed around the “tourists enjoying the Easter holidays to visit us,” but also in Lisbon, in order to celebrate the end of “gathering that the winter cold calls, it seems that spring is presented as a good time to explore the city and some of its emblematic spaces. “

So, always with free entry, as on March 26 this spring in the city opens the doors of the Festival of Colors, the Temple Radha Krishna, the Hindu Community. On June 29, the fado tradition, voiced by Ricardo Ribeiro, accompanied by pianist João Paulo Esteves da Silva, take account of the Ismaili Centre.

In the two days that follow, the program carries to Catholic churches, including the Church of St. Catherine – where will sing the Vocal Group Olisipo – the Grace Church – receiving the Chamber Choir Lisboa Cantat, and Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, that on April 2 will stage the Chamber Choir and Orchestra Academic, University of Lisbon, in a concert that will also be a tribute to Nuno Teotonio Pereira, the architect who designed this church and who died last January 20.
