Oscar 2015: Birdman wins the award for best film – Correio da Bahia

The Birdman film, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu Mexican, was the big winner of the 87th Oscar awards, which took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles, in the United States. He competed with The Grand Hotel Budapest, American Sniper, Boyhood: From infancy to youth, The Game of Imitation, The Theory of Everything, Selma and Whiplash. The film, nominated for nine categories, also led three other statues:. Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Original Screenplay

Beside The Grand Hotel Budapest, was the most prized of the night. The film portrays the life of a star today decadent cinema, Riggan Thomson (Michael Keaton), trying to regain some of the former glory with a play on Broadway – their fights with exhibitionists actors playing actors exhibitionists – and that over the process, loses touch with reality. Directed by Wes Anderson, The Grand Hotel Budapest won the soundtrack categories, production design, costumes and makeup and hair.

The plot follows the routine concierge Gustav H. (Ralph Fiennes) and his apprentice steward Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), trying to unravel the mystery of the death of one of the lovers Gustav H., one Grand thin that was a frequent guest of the hotel.

The best actor award went to Eddie Redmayne English, 33, on The Theory of Everything. In his role, he played the world-renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who suffers from a degenerative disease that limits the movements of the body. The actor competed with Steve Carell (Foxcatcher), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Benedict Cumbertatch (The Game of Imitation) and Michael Keaton (Birdman).

Julianne Moore, 54, took the best actress for her performance in Forever Alice. She competed with Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Rosamund Pike (Girl Copy) and Reese Witherspoon (Free). This was the first Oscar of the actress, who has been nominated in five opportunities.

JK Simmons confirmed the favoritism and won the Oscar for best supporting actor for his performance in the film Whiplash. He competed with Robert Duvall (The Judge), Ethan Hawke (Boyhood), Edward Norton (Birdman) and Mark Ruffalo (Foxcatcher). Patricia Arquette won as best supporting actress for Boyhood. It was the only category won by the film, which took 12 years to produce and was running to six figures.
