Paredes de Coura delivery to the dance with Aussies Cut Copy – Blitz

<- St_tag_body begin ->

Paredes de Coura misses the rock, they told us this afternoon, and no less than euphoric reaction to the concerts of Franz Ferdinand or Cage The Elephant proof this same thirst for guitars. After the Black Lips give tonight a taste of electricity to the festival of Minho, the Cut Copy arrived from Melbourne, Australia, with a very different proposal. Pants and white sweater, Dan Whitford, who before creating the band In Ghost Colours was DJ and designer , sings, dances, communicates with the public and try that energy to pass the stage it occupies, with teammates in prime time – post-midnight Friday – to the audience. The strategy has positive results, helped by the fact that Cut Copy alternate between purely electronic register and the pop-rock guitars, those that Paredes de Coura often seems to miss.

Warm, sometimes almost tropical, music from Cut Copy contrasts with the moisture that comes installing every night along the river Taboão, but will opening cracks in the resistance of the spectators dance. We remember the concert in the same venue, the British Hot Chip, while Dan Whitford serves in “Take Me Over”, that bubbly optimism stylish 80s (the Hot Chip is still an all-nothing brain ). “Free Your Mind” from the album of the same name, released last year, serves to continue the party, while in “Where I’m Going”, a bit more psychedelic, the band takes on guitars and so arrives another way to crowd facing it (tomorrow, apparently, the public will be even larger). With fanciful falsetto “So Haunted” and especially with the call for participation of “Hearts on Fire” with its hint of New Order, the show gets a breath that does not waste Whiford Dan, being expressive and theatrical with “Saturdays” (“ When I am looking for you I call your number but I can not get through “, or so-called first world problems).

“Who wish I stay here until the end of the festival – also want to come tomorrow “, says at one point the lead singer and master of ceremonies of Cut Copy. The feeling is shared by many, but the night of the Australians was even Friday – and though the advantage.
