Bowie knew that the cancer was terminal three months before you die – News Journal

David Bowie you knew that your cancer was incurable three months before he died, according to a BBC documentary.

The singer was recording the video of the theme “Lazarus” when he was informed that the cancer treatment for a tumor in the liver would be stopped, since the cancer that had been diagnosed with was incurable.

The documentary “David Bowie: The Last Five Years” (The last five years, a literal translation) is issued by the BBC on Saturday, the 7th of January, and covers the tour of the singer in 2003/2004 and the last four years of his life.

David Bowie has fought against the disease for 18 months and died two days after his 69-year-old and released the album “Blackstar”.

“I Learned later that in the week that we were recording was when he learned that the treatment was going to end (…) that the disease had won,” said Joan We, the director of the video “Lazarus”.

Joan We further explained that the video, in which Bowie appears on a bed blindfolded, was not made based on the illness of the singer. “For me it had to do with the biblical theme, the man that will arise, and it had nothing to do with the fact that he will be sick,” he said. “It was because I enjoyed that imagery,” she said.

the producer of The long-time Bowie, Tony Visconti, says in the documentary that the singer was at a maximum when he recorded the last album, “Blackstar” was released on 8 January 2016, the date of the anniversary of Bowie. He died two days later.

“David had ideas spectacular. Make yourself known, famous, was initially for him [the means of] have the resources to disseminate their ideas”, he underlined. “He didn’t want to be famous just because yes.”
