Eight nominations for "Moonlight" – which tells the difficulty of the life of a black gay, from childhood to adulthood, including the best film, best director for Barry Jenkins, better secondary actors to Mahershala Ali, and, to go with him Harris and best screenplay.
the Four nominations for "Fences" that follows the life of a garbage collector, and the family in the 50′s. Best film; best actor, Denzel Washington; best actress, secondary, Viola Davis, and even best adapted screenplay.
"Hidden Figures", which is the story of three african-american women brilliant work for the NASA received three nominations: best picture, best adaptation and best actress secondary to Octavia Spencer.
The president of the Association of Film Critics African-americans believe that: "it is certainly good for the african-american community that a certain number of actors and creatives to be recognized, but there are still members of the asian community, with the exception of Dev Patel, and latinos; we also have the muslims and the women that have not had any recognition or opportunities, and are behind the cameras in the stations technical as the achievement or the mount. We have still a lot of work to do."
