The many lives of Deolinda – Vision

Luís José Martins, Pedro da Silva Martins, Ana Bacalhau and José Pedro Leitão celebrate 10 years of Deolinda coliseums of Lisbon and Porto

Luís José Martins, Pedro da Silva Martins, Ana Bacalhau and José Pedro Leitão celebrate 10 years of Deolinda coliseums of Lisbon and Oporto

At the beginning, it is said, it was fado that inspired the day-to-day of this young woman, "maiden loves, married to non, natural of Lisbon, and the inhabitant of a ground floor somewhere in the suburbs of the capital". Thus it was shown, a decade ago, the Deolinda, the character imaginary whose life was sung (and counted) by the group with the same name, composed by Ana Bacalhau, José Luís Martins, Pedro da Silva Martins and José Pedro Leitão.

as Soon with the first disc, Song at the Side, released in 2008, and which included themes such as Fado Toninho, Fon-Fon-Fon or Movement Perpetual Membership, they were processed in one of the biggest phenomena of the then Portuguese music. A status even more rooted with the next disc, Two Stamps and a Stamp (2010), who went directly to first place in top national sales.

Deolinda was now a girl sure of herself, that had come out of the building where once lived to go have a few laps in the big city. In the wake of this album, the band would play for the first time coliseums in January 2011, with four dates in Lisbon and in Porto, where they premiered live the song Fool that I Am, in the months following high one of the hymns of the challenge to the austerity imposed by the notorious troika. Two years later, in 2013, and when the two first albums, still brought in multiple parts, is edited World Little, which is produced by the british Jerry Boys, and mark the take-off of the group from sounding more "singer" of the first records.

it Was finally time for Deolinda go outside, see the world – and the world also liked it, as it was clear in the critique of the british newspaper The Times a concert in London, he considers them to be "one of the great bands of Europe". However, it took ten years and the girl suburban of the past emerges now as a woman sophisticated, accompanied by people like Manel Cruz (Ornaments in Violet) or DJ Riot (Buraka Som sistema), two of the guests present in the Other Stories, the disk of 2016 that brings again to the coliseus, to end the celebrations of a decade-long career, but with the certainty that Deolinda still has much to live and to tell…

In parallel with the concerts, the Deolinda will also re-edit the last Other Stories in format of double CD, which includes a second disc with live tracks.
