Quake with a magnitude of 3.7 on Porto de Mós – Diário de Notícias – Lisbon

an earthquake with A magnitude of 3.7 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter in Porto de Mós, was today registered at 23.22, reveals the site of IPMA (Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere).

A fireman of the corporation of Porto de Mos told the DN that was “strong but quick.” There are reports that it was felt in Lisbon.

According to the same source, after the earthquake-the corporation of the firefighters received several calls of alert and requests for information. None however gave account of damage to human or material.

THE IPMA has issued a statement stating that, “according to the information available to date, [the earthquake] has not caused personal or material damages”. He adds that “was felt with maximum intensity of IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the region of the Battle”. “If the situation warrant will be issued new releases”, he concluded.

At 2.03 Wednesday, the IPMA had been another earthquake of the same magnitude, to the west of Faro (epicenter 65 kilometers south-southwest of the capital of the algarve). Also, there were no reports of damages, whether material or human.
