Rolling Stones give free concert in Cuba – Observer

It will be the first time that an English rock band gives a concert in the open in the Cuban capital, reads the very site of the Rolling Stones. The concert is scheduled for March 25, just days after the historic visit of Barack Obama, who recently revived diplomatic links with Cuba, thus making up the second American president to visit Havana. The event will be called “Concert for Peace”, it does not have any input cost.

The show, which will take place in Ciudade Deportiva, will be the biggest concert to be held in Cuba in recent years. “Since we played in several special locations throughout our career but this concert will be a milestone for us, and hope to all our friends in Cuba,” said the band. This concert follows the tour that the Rolling Stones have done throughout Latin America, covering countries such as Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Argentina.

In recent years the restrictions on cultural events in Cuba have be- if milder, causing more international artists and bands begin to put Cuba on touring map. This Sunday, the electronic dance group Major Lazer, will also take a free concert, which acts as presentation of Musicabana festival, which takes place in May, the first production between Cuban and American partners in more than 30 years.
