The Seventh Stage IN Alive is dedicated to Fado
the US Alive and EDP strengthen their partnership longtime with the presentation of a new stage that you want to celebrate the most important genre of popular music – the Fado. The EDP Fado Cafe, the seventh stage of the festival, born in a renovated room area with its own set design that will engage all festival in a traditional Portuguese environment. Marco Rodrigues, Raquel Tavares, Helder Moutinho, Dead Combo and Tiago Bettencourt are some of the names that will EDP Street in the US Alive’16.
the requalification of a street with 150 meters long, highly inspired by the pombalina moth, will host various elements of Portuguese culture, including the re-creation of the Museum of Electricity and the future MAAT (Museum of Architecture and Technology Art). In this area live the new stage, two central spaces of EDP activation, and also several shopping areas. The project is designed by the architect Rui Francisco and the production is in charge of EPC (Portuguese Company Scenarios).
The fate comes to NOS Alive through careful programming that aims to give space to this Portuguese musical genre, which is since 2011 Intangible Heritage of Humanity, while it reveals how this style is very present in the culture of other national artists. 07 July the EDP Fado Cafe gets two of the most impressive Fado voices, Marco Rodrigues and Raquel Tavares. On the same day will act still Tiago Bettencourt with a show specially prepared for this stage, in which the singer will revisit the national songbook themes that most influenced him throughout his career.
The second day of the festival, will rely on the curation of the singer and poet Helder Moutinho, now recognized as one of the most prestigious fado singers of his generation. The voice that needs no introduction brings with well-known artists of fado for unique and special moments. Marco Oliveira, Vanessa Alves and Ricardo Parreira are the singers who will join Hélder for an evening that promises to be special.
Since 09 July will be treated to a very special program prepared by the renowned developer of home fados, “Mesa de Frades”. For EDP Fado Cafe, Pedro de Castro created a closer environment of this special place that has seen born great voices and which has trained some of the most important singers. The historic site will be revisited in the US Alive through the voices of renowned fado singer Ana Sofia Varela and young Thérèse Landeiro.
To end in large EDP Fado Cafe, takes the stage Dead Combo and the Bad Fame Strings . In this show, join the Dead Combo a string suit (cello, viola and violin), producing an entirely new show, which musically will deconstruct and completely strip the songs of the duo to an acoustic format, where the Suit of ropes takes on a special and surprising role. This show will be a new opportunity for many duo admirers immerse themselves in the imaginary one of the band, as well as the scenic point of view, this will be a defining moment in the course of the Dead Combo.
