He died the architect Zaha Hadid. The first to win a Pritzker – Mad Money

The architect Zaha Hadid, the first woman awarded the Pritzker Prize, the highest distinction in architecture, died Thursday in a hospital in Miami, in the United States, announced his studio in London. Was 65.

“It is with great sadness that Zaha Hadid Architects confirms that Zaha Hadid died suddenly in Miami in the early hours of this morning,” reads the statement, cited by Lusa.

Born in Baghdad in 1950, he studied mathematics at the American University Beirut and graduated architecture in 1977 at the architectural Association in London. Two years later, in 1979, he opened his atelier in which he created works such as the National Museum of Art of the XXI Century in Rome; the London Aquatics Centre, designed for the 2012 Olympics; the Aliyev Center in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan; . In 2004 won the Pritzker Prize – the Nobel of architecture called – which was also won by architects as the Portuguese Siza Vieira and Souto de Moura; British Norman Foster; Frenchman Jean Nouvel, the American Frank Gehry – Santana Lopes invited to rehabilitate Mayer when he was mayor of Lisbon – or Brazilian Oscar Niemeyer and Paulo Mendes da Rocha, the latter the author of the new Museum of Carriages of Lisbon.

It was also the first woman to receive the royal medal for Architecture in 2015.
