The singer and songwriter received the title in the Buckingham Palace. The woman and two of her eight children attended the ceremony.

Sir Roderick David Stewart. The singer and songwriter is now called this way, after having been ordained a knight by prince William of England for his “services to music and to charity”.

The ceremony happened on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace, in London. The wife of Stewart, the ex-model Penny Lancaster, and their two children – Aiden, five, and Alastair, ten – attended the ceremony.

TO the BBC, the performer of hits such as “Maggie May” “You Wear it Well” and “Tonight’s the Night” reported that the duke of Cambridge thanked the fact that, at the age of 71 years and after nearly 50 career, Stewart still pursue music. “I have to do. I am a father of eight children,” he said.

For the occasion, Sir Roderick chose some pants with tartan pattern – an allusion to the origins of the scottish of your family – and a jacket in the military style.

When the announcement was made last June by queen Elizabeth II, Stewart thanked “His Majesty” and promised “to make good use of the title”.

it is recalled that, in 2013, the singer regretted not to have been ordained a knight. At the time, explained that the reason could only be related to the fact that you have left the Uk in the 1970s to escape the taxes and said even if I felt wronged, as also the british Mick Jagger and Tom Jones, who also left the country, had been decorated with this title. “Mick does not pay taxes here and Tom lives in the us”, complained to the magazine “Radio Times”.

Sir Rod Stewart, who lives with his wife and children in Los Angeles, California, also said at that time that do not keep grudges if it was never awarded. “If my time comes, OK. But if you do not get, do not get upset. The Queen and I have one thing in common: The same hair style for 45 years!”.
