Phil Collins gave an interview to The Guardian where has announced that he will return to the stages already in the summer of 2017. The musician, who was away from the stage a few years ago, says that the recent performances at charity concerts, and the insistence of the son, Nicholas, made him change his mind.
The tour, titled “Not Dead Yet”, will pass through London, Paris and Cologne, during June 2017. The idea is simple: “spend a pleasant moment through my music that people love”.
As to the possibility of dropping the microphone and return to the battery, Phil Collins dismisses the idea. “I think that I’ll never go back to playing how he did it. It came to pass anything in the last tour of Genesis, and, since that time, I couldn’t play. I’ve tried using mallets heavier, larger dishes, but the strength is not the same”. The battery will be handed over to son Nicholas, now 15.
Phil Collins is one of the musicians that more discs sold in the story, both as drummer and vocalist of Genesis, as the soil.
