Jagwar Ma, Meg Baird and Octa Push in Mexefest – Sound Art

the

One of the premises of Vodafone Mexefest is the diversity of genres. Jagwar Ma, Meg Baird and the Octa Push are the latest confirmations and illustrate it in perfection.

Originally a double but dir-se-ia, effectively a trio, the Jagwar Ma arriving in Sydney, and are formed by Gabriel Winterfield, Jono Ma and Jack Freeman. This year they are back with "Every Now & Then", the second disc of the original, which already has such advances in format single "B 1" and "Give Me The Reason". The recipe, debuted with "Howlin'" from 2013, it is the same and unbeatable: songs strong rock, psicadelismo and electronics. Admired by the public and peers, already shared the stages with names such as Foals, The XX or Tame Impala, and, in 2016, attended festivals such as Glastonbury, Green Man, FYF Los Angeles, Bumbershoot or Lollapalooza Berlin. The Jagwar Ma were recently in Portugal in the context of the US Alive, recalls here in photos.

Meg Baird is the owner of a voice immaculate. With Greg Weeks, brilliant musician of Philadelphia, founded the City and very recently, after having formed another collective, The Baird Sisters, joined the Heron of Oblivion, with excelsos members of Comets on Fire, Assemble Head. Drummer, singer and songwriter, has collaborated with Will Oldham, Kurt Vile, Sharon Van Etten, or Steve Gunn. The solo has released three albums beautiful of sounds, folk. A classic, very crystal clear, made his debut in 2007 with "Dear Companion", four years later he edited "(“Seasons on Earth", and in the past year, the amazing "Don’t Weigh Down the Light", recorded in the city where he lives, san Francisco. Meg Baird is a full song that makes the beauty of the element protagonist of his compositions.

The music of Octa Push fuses the best if you can remove the influences of the music of lusophone links to the PALOP, with rhythms that are more urban of the electronics. The brothers Bruno and Leonardo Guichon make music for about ten years, but only in 2008 they decided to give body and soul to Octa Push. "Eight", the debut album, arrived in 2013, confirming the potential of the dual-Carcavelos/Lisbon as one of the most creative designs and bold music the national, having won the title of album of the year for the specialized press. In 2016, the Octa Push return stronger than ever with new work of the original. "Language" is a disk required, written almost entirely in Portuguese. It is a tribute to the music of lusophone, made in the last 40 years, with the collaboration of guests so illustrious, and eclectic as the Beat, Maria João, Tó Trips (Dead Combo), João Gomes (Ear Black), Cachupa Psychedelic, Cátia Sá (ex-Guta Naki), Ary (Blasted Mechanism), among others. After they have already stepped on the international stage, the Octa Push promise now to conquer the public of Vodafone Mexefest.
