Phil Collins still is not dead and will return to the concerts in June 2017 – Diário de Notícias – Lisbon

Ten years after the last tour, the british musician is back with concerts, an autobiography, and a disk.

“I’m Still not dead”, announces Phil Collins in the autobiography that is about to hit bookstores Not Dead Yet: An Autobiography). And this will also be the name of the next tour. After nearly a decade away from the stage, the musician is back and has just announced a series of five concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London, which will follow the shows in Paris (France) and Cologne (Germany), in June of next year. To keep track of this, will be released a disc with his greatest hits, among which You Can’t Hurry Love or Another Day in Paradise.

The last original album by Phil Collins was released in 2002. It was called Testify and gave rise to the ironically named First Farewell Tour. After that, made a further tour in 2007, with the former members of Genesis, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford. The last studio album, Going Back, the date of 2010, and was composed by covers themes of the Songs.

In 2011, after the displacement of a vertebra that kept him out of playing the drums, Phil Collins announced that he would withdraw. At the time, with 60 years, the musician explained that if he wanted to dedicate more to the family and to the children who were still children.

Since then, he has worked only sporadically in events – for example, in August, at the opening of the tennis tournament US Open. “I thought I was going to withdraw quietly,” he explained in February, in an interview, when you have already prepared the return. “But thanks to the fans, to my family and to the support of some of the artists are extraordinary, I rediscovered my passion for music and by the performances. The time has come to do all this again, and I’m very excited.”

This time, he says, are the children that encourage you to go back on the road. And there is even a chance for Nicholas, his eldest son, 15-year-old also participate in the show. “He is learning, but is already a fantastic player,” said Phil Collins.

Collins was drummer and vocalist of Genesis, his solo in 1981 with the album Face Value, which included one of their biggest hits, In the Air Tonight. In the autobiography, Phil Collin talks about the ups and downs of his career, three marriages and various details about their problem of alcoholism and how you managed to overcome them. The musician currently lives in Miami with his wife, Orianne Cevey, and their children Nicholas (age 15) and Matthew (11 years old).
