BERLIN – The leader of Big Band and German composer James Last, famous for his arrangements of popular songs, has died at 86 years old, in the US state of Florida, said the organizer of her shows on Wednesday.
Last sold over 80 million records worldwide and was best known for popular hits in the style of big band . His trademark “happy sounds” includes strong dance beat, the crowd noise and laughter mixed with the songs. His first album, entitled “Non Stop Dancing” was released in 1965.
Born in the German city of Bremen, Last was originally a pianist, but after the Second World War began a musical career that d-Urou about six decades.
Popular worldwide, he appeared at the Royal Albert Hall in London earlier this year.
