Just a few hours from the start of another edition of IN Primavera Sound, and how we know it is always difficult to choose where to be and what to see, we present you a list of 10 must-sees of the festival concerts.
10. HEALTH
Shortly orthodox, started almost at the festival end. The HEALTH are designed to stardom through the remix that Crystal Castles did your music Crimewave in 2007, and since then things have only tendency to improve. The sound of HEALTH has been described as consisting of “artistically worked noise and synths raw, haunting monotone vocals, and percussion skills rub insanity”. Well balanced with the noisy instrumental melodious vocals are using, distinguishing them from many other bands of noise rock they are just shouting in his songs.
Main reason not to miss: Go launch this year its latest full-length “Death Magic”, which is his first studio album since 2009. (And does not match most any concert!)
9. Pharmakon
Since the 17 years since Margaret Chardiet is a prominent figure in the panorama of music underground and experimental New York. Completely reckless, breakneck and almost satanic, the Pharmakon music is difficult to “digest”. New York, precocious talent at the service of frenetic vanguard, became known in 2007 with a first CD-R self-edited and, since then, has dedicated itself to improve its abrasive and wild design of noise shrill. Everything indicates that “Bestial Burden”, his latest full-length, will be the concert of the star and promises a concert full of machine-rhythms, voices out of hand and musically disturbing textures.
Reason main not to miss: Imagine yourself on the last day of the festival, at 1:45 a.m. the morning, hear sounds of metal saws and uncontrolled screams, they all perfectly cohesive a masterpiece extremely well produced. You can imagine a better scenario? Neither do we.
8. Kevin Morby
Better known as bassist of the Woods, Morby also gives letters as songwriter and guitarist. “Harlem River” was his first solo album and was described as a tribute to New York. “Still Life” is his latest project composed entirely as he walked along the road. Lou Reed, Bob Dylan and Neil Young are cited as some of their favorite artists, and the influences of these are incredibly notorious in their work
Main reason not to miss:.
7. Sun Kil Moon
Sun Kil Moon is a project folk rock American coming directly California and founded in 2002. Initially it was only a continuation of the band indie rock defunct Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon but is now the main recording pseudonym of singer and guitarist Mark Kozelek. Each year, the cult around Mark Kozelek just seems to grow without limits. Today, at 48, the author of Ohio celebrates a decade of Sun Kil Moon with “Benji” on the road, an impressive work folk melancholy that with the help of Steve Shelley and Will Oldham, confirms Kozelek as one of the great contemporary songwriters
Main reason not to miss:. A good opportunity to prepare the lacrimal glands for the concert of Antony and the Johnsons Quality will come later tonight .
6. Viet Cong
With one of the great albums of this year, Viet Cong is a
Main reason not to miss:. The perfect end to the evening to the sound of one of the most promising bands in the music scene this year
5. Electric Wizard
If there is name that stands out from the rest of the poster, this is certainly the Electric Wizard. Fleeing to the majority Registration rest of the festival, this English band doom metal brings us his latest full-length “Time to Die”. With two-decade career behind his back and eight full disc riffs destructive, the Electric Wizard are probably one of the bands that did more for metal renewal, through its approaches to the Doom . This destructive mark on his music incorporates traces of sludge and stoner rock and has the usual presence of letters on the occult, witchcraft, works HP Lovecraft, horror movies and cannabis. Last year formed the publisher Witchfinder Records, owned by Spinefarm Records, which will release its future projects
Main reason not to miss:. The perfect escape to the song folk and indie that dominates the poster.
4. Jungle / Run the Jewels / Ariel Pink
Yes, because if you had intentions to see these three concerts, Primavera Sound the times were definitely not , your friends. All these concerts will be on 5 June and will take place at the same time (!). If you’re feeling with courage, you can always take a jog between the three stages and see a third of each concert. If you are not a fan of seeing only parts of concerts, you must be able to choose from the momentum of funk and neo soul Elegant Jungle, the pop , folk loose and neurotic electronics Ariel Pink and aggressive Hip-Hop e of Run The Jewels.
Help in the decision: If you really like a lot of at least two of the artists your life is not easy and you have to choose. Being pragmatic, the group least likely to return to our country so quickly is Run The Jewels, given the little bet on the hip-hop by Portuguese promoters.
3. Patti Smith
A true goddess of Punk walk down the road to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his debut album “Horses”, and will (hopefully) go through the northern festival. Celebrating the longevity of his career, the poet Punk gives us the opportunity to hear “Horses” in its entirety, still accompanied by two original members of your group, Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty. This album is an iconic and inescapable landmark in the history of rock and this will be the perfect opportunity to pay homage
WARNING:. Patti Smith will still star in a concert on the first day of the festival, only acoustic and “spoken word.” A set a must and a unique opportunity to see Smith at its most raw and pure form
Main reason not to miss:. Probably the only opportunity we will have to hear “Horses” in live full.
2. Antony & amp; the Johnsons
The amazing world of Antony Hegarty returns to Portugal and promises one of the most memorable concerts of this issue festival. The charismatic presence of Antony does not go up on stage for almost a year and the Primavera Sound festival (Barcelona and Porto) was the venue chosen to host this highly anticipated return of the project. Patronized by the likes of Lou Reed, Rufus Wainwright, Boy George and Björk, this project seems to have no limits on the grandeur you want to achieve and you want to change mentalities. The Antony’s voice combines jazz , soul and a theatrical tone, the approach interporias stars like Nina Simone.
Main reason for Do not miss: The mere presence of Antony and the Johnsons would, in itself, a reason more than enough to not miss this concert. In this case, we have to help the fact that Antony have been one year away from the stage and be in perfect shape to give a fantastic concert. Antony will include a solo project shortly, entitled Anohni, and this will be a good opportunity to see Antony and the Johnsons, as the project will (most likely) stopped for a while.
1 . FKA twigs
dancer since the age of 17, the British Thaliah Barnnet, better known as FKA twigs, grew astronomically in the last couple years, making it one of the artists revelation of last year, with their debut album, “LP1″, was nominated for the Mercury Prize. A disc that displays the strengths that distinguish it at the forefront of electronic pop:. r & amp; b subtle combined with an experimental electronic and obscure
Main reason not to miss : With your next job, “EP3″, with the potential to leave at any time, this is the perfect opportunity to see the artist in our country. The artist was stopped for a while and the US Primavera Sound will be his return in force to festivals. A first not to be missed!
