Carminho today opens the 5th Fado Festival Madrid – Digital Journal

 
 The 5th edition of the Madrid Fado Festival opens today with Carminho, and will also have on display Raquel Tavares and Cristina Branco.
 
 

In addition to the three concerts are scheduled conferences, film screenings and an exhibition about the Portuguese national song, all under the motto “Women in fado.”

Since 1. edition, in 2011, the “Fado Festival” has been expanding to Latin America (Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires). This year will also be present in a second Spanish city, Seville.

Frederico Carmo, organization, told Lusa that the Festival has acted as “launching pad” for new Fado values, in particular Carminho.

“The Carminho was here in 2011 [next to Cuca Roseta and Carlos do Carmo], when few even knew her, and returns this year as one of the confirmed values, and the decoy have been the first Portuguese to enter Spain in sales top ‘, he said.

The Fado Festival of Madrid will take place in the complex Theatres del Canal to Sunday, with the shows happen in a room for up to 800 people
