Light show at night in Cascais brings together 26 works from Friday … – RTP

Lumina – Festival of Light fulfills its third edition, the second in Cascais, and promise, according to the organization, illuminating the village through “a journey that we will provide moments of discovery, magic and thrill to the public.”

The event, presented today at the Citadel of Cascais, includes light shows, sculptures, light installations that interact with visitors, multimedia projections and video mapping in buildings and most emblematic places of the village.

The aim, revealed the artistic directors of the festival Nuno Maya and Carole Purnelle is “value local heritage and provide a different visit to Cascais.”

Last year, the Lumina received in the three-day event, 400 000 visitors, numbers that the organization now hopes to be overcome.

To the Mayor of Cascais, Carlos Careers, bring back to the village this light show “is part of the tourist attraction strategy.”

“This is a new way of seeing Cascais, with more light, and that enriches us even more. Has all the conditions to be a success,” said the mayor.

The works are by 26 artists, national and international, recognized in the art of light.

Paul Friedlander, the UK, author of “Wave Garden”, told reporters today that Lumina is participating in “a great pleasure” and expect people to like your job.

“I’ve always been passionate about waves and waves made with light. This work is this, a large illuminated spiral and hope people enjoy it as much unwilling to stop looking for her,” he joked.

This year’s Lumina also features the participation of more than a hundred volunteers, responsible for assisting the luminous projections, referring visitors, advise and inform about the paths works exhibited, among other functions.

The residents of Cascais collaborated with participatory workshops related to the festival, such as the Flores de Cascais or “selfies” to integrate a media spectacle.
