Penafiel put Alice Vieira on the street – the Public.en



The literary festival Escritaria pays homage to an author that there is much achievement young people to read. This Thursday to Sunday, it will be difficult not to stumble in the work of Alice Vieira through the streets of the city of Penafiel. Writers and friends, such as José Tolentino de Mendonça, Mário Zambujal, Mário Cláudio, Helena Sacadura Cabral and Luís Osório, were called to talk about the also a journalist ("above all and always", as he likes to emphasize). Together, they will fill the conference Alice Vieira: Life and Work, on the afternoon of Saturday, at 15h30, at the Municipal Museum of Penafiel.

the ninth edition of The Escritaria begins with street theatre, a presentation of the version of Alice to Treasure chest (at 10am), at the same time in the Plaza of the Church of Mercy opens the Book Fair (which will operate up to 23), with a performance of music with ukuleles of agrupamento de Escolas D. António Ferreira Gomes.

Between various sessions and testimonials in schools, libraries and other spaces of the city, highlighted by the release of his latest book, A Diary of A Teenager in Lisbon 1910 (Text Editor), on Friday, 7 October, at 21: 30 at the Municipal Museum, with the presentation of the journalist and storyteller Sílvia Alves.

Antonio de Sousa, president of the Câmara Municipal de Penafiel, justifies the choice of Alice: "this Is a writer who had the ability and the art of bringing multiple generations of the pleasure of reading and the discovery of our language. It’s a recognition of natural on the part of the Escritaria, whose focus is to honor the great names of contemporary literature that have given a strong contribution to the Portuguese language. It is the case of Alice Vieira."

In previous editions, the chosen of the festival were: Urbano Tavares Rodrigues, José Saramago, Agustina Bessa-Luís, Mia Couto, Antonio Lobo Antunes, Mário de Carvalho, Lídia Jorge and Mário Cláudio.
