Clay died unexpectedly of a heart attack
The American singer Otis Clay, who between 1960 and 1980 stood out in the music scene soul, blues and gospel, died on Friday aged 73, announced the agency that represented him. Clay “unexpectedly died of a heart attack,” said the Heart & amp; Soul
The singer was born in 1942 in Waxhaw, in Mississippi, in the United States.. Clay signed successes like “That’s How It Is (When You’re in Love)” and “Trying to Live My Life Without You” and became a reference to soul and blues musicians in Chicago, where he also played some of their idols such as Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke.
Born into a religious family of solid musical training, Otis Clay moved to Chicago as a teenager, where he joined in the 1960s, the Famous Blue Jay Singers, singing a capella to mostly white audiences.
In 2007, Clay received a nomination for a Grammy for the gospel album “Walk a Mile in My Shoes”.
