After six films to give and take, Sylvester Stallone hung up his gloves Creed:. The Rocky Legacy , which debuted this farm -feira, December 31, is the first title of the saga in which Stallone not crossed strikes or punches have to protect themselves from the opponent’s hooks.
It is also the first in which the making or writing the argument does not have the finger actor who returns here to his character ever, Rocky Balboa. Inside the ring will be the actor Michael B. Jordan. He is Adonis Johnson, son of Apollo Creed, former rival of Balboa, and later friend, in the early episodes of the series.
The young actor – no relationship to the Michael Jordan basketball – comes to this role at age 28 after a tour on television and to have stated in the theater with roles in Fruitvale Station : The Last Stop (2013), That Strange Moment (2014) and Fantastic Four (2015).
It was in Fruitvale Station: The Last Stop , awarded at festivals in Sundance and Cannes, to its way crossed for the first time with the director and screenwriter Ryan Coogler. And it was in Jordan and Coogler that fell the responsibility to follow up the series, as both can be considered a spin-off as a remake (as we will explain).
Adonis Johnson, who at first assumes the father’s name (never met) has a cushy job in Los Angeles – is not that you need a livelihood, after all is child’s best boxer ever .
Adonis leaves his job to follow his father’s footsteps. For this it moved to Philadelphia where, cost, convinces Rocky Balboa training him. However meets a girl (Tessa Thompson) and falls in love. From here the story of Creed follows the formula of Rocky , the original.
It’s a formula that worked well in 1976: Rocky won the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director (John G. Avildsen) and paid Stallone nominations for Best Actor Oscars and Best Screenplay. Stallone, who has here one of its best performance as an actor, seems to show that he was born to make Rocky Balboa.
Remake in the way picks up a story that has no secrets and adapts to 2015, Creed: The Rocky Legacy can also be categorized as spin-off (here goes the explanation): it is no coincidence that the title (only Creed ) ignores the name of the prequels. Rocky Balboa is still there, but history now belongs to Adonis Johnson … Creed.
