For the 4th consecutive year, the capital returned to open our hearts to the musical experience that dominates met for two nights. A dozen spaces around the heart of Lisbon, occupied by dozens of artists, are the theme for a festival whose script is built by each individual. And it is this demand by constructing our “patchwork” of concerts and experiences that we are in a constant and hurried up and down the Avenida da Liberdade. But of course, who runs for pleasure not tired. And if the various decisions led to numerous assumptions for an evening well spent musical, the end of the route had (and almost unanimously) your destination path:. Annie Clark receive with your project St Vincent in Lisbon Coliseum

The first stop took place in the beautiful Geographical Society of Lisbon, where the sweet voice of Ana Claudia already made itself heard. Recent name in the Portuguese music scene, with just “Autumn” (the debut album) released this year, Ana Claudia makes his sentimental pop and sugary his greatest weapon to quickly win the hearts of the public. Among versions of Cicero (“John and the Beanstalk”) and an amazing version of Björk Icelandic (“All is Full of Love”), Ana will distribute sympathy to thank the presence of each of the listeners, and demonstrating a sense the voice that is impossible to pretend. Judging by the sample that was given at the festival, the achievement of mission of the public gave evidence of being successful.

A few meters away, acted one of the artists that best embodies the spirit and Blues Soul in Portugal: NBC . The “big voice” is unmistakable, and hear even before entering the Casa do Alentejo. “That’s how NBC makes music. And the music is way deeper sense of transmission, “exclaims frontman before a packed audience. And there could be no better phrase to describe the passion that NBC has for music making: a fusion of Blues (“Man” is the perfect example) with roots in Hip-Hop (From “NBCioso” old), always with a huge deal of excitement filled the impressive voice that displays. Every song brought to the epic end, through guitar solos or use of a female chorus, prolonged applause was demonstrating the satisfaction of the public in the Casa do Alentejo. NBC was certainly one of the good surprises (for those who had doubts) of the first day of Vodafone Mexefest.

After the NBC concert, we move for the first time the heart of a Liberty Avenue completely dominated by the spirit festival, to watch the eagerly awaited concert Capicua (and I like to make an initial route gives Vodafone Mexefest, 100% spoken in Portuguese). The rapper Cedofeita, had in recent weeks left in the air the promise that this would be a very special concert at the celebration at all the months of post-release work “Crazy Mermaid”. And so it was. The São Jorge Cinema, has seen a true spectacle, guided by the parade of “successes” of the latest album Capicua (“Heavy Hand” and “Mad Mermaid”, among others) as well as older songs. This show, full of cameos (Lara Laquiz, Gisela John, among others) who came to another brightness to a concert that promised to be so very, very special.

now time to head to Lisbon Coliseum, to see live one of the most anticipated bands of the festival: Tune-Yards . Who knew the work of the American band, including the last record “Nikki Nack,” knew exactly what to expect: a festive and unorthodox experimental pop. And so the crowd in a packed Coliseum saw Merrill Garbus entry and company realized that it would be the same recipe to watch live. The eccentric clothes, covered with bright, are consistent perfectly with the festive atmosphere that the music of Tune-Yards emanates (something that could be from a fusion of tribal rhythms, and a futuristic experimentation. Extreme clearly demonstrate the difficulty of assigning a category in the style of the band). Since “Sink-O”, “Real Thing”, through the amazing “Water Foutain” to “Bizness”, there has been a high rate of performance where the various interventions of the whole band were having fun and leaving the front rows of smile. . And there was certainly no one who had left the Coliseum without being fully infected by the joy of the show Tune-Yards

It came the time to take one of the hardest decisions of the night, for concerts options: Rock Psychedelic of King Gizzard & amp; The Lizard Wizard in the Super Bock Super Rock Room, synthpop of the new disk Kindness in the Rossio train station, or the feast of Clan and your guests ? at Cinema São Jorge

The decision turned out to fall in the Australian King Gizzard & amp; The Lizard Wizard , which estreavam in Portugal Garage EPAL. And what better place to receive them, and to enjoy their music than this it? The garage rock brushed with strong psychedelic influences of the past, filled completely the garage, giving it an environment underground and relaxed quite exciting. With a musical style that balances between Ty Segall / Fuzz and Foxygen, 7 Australians (a real “orchestra” well-oiled rock) early showed that this was a concert entitled to a few times undead. And the onslaught more “aggressive” and challenging the chords played (Many of them come from “I’m in Your Mind Fuzz,” the latest work of the band), the audience reacted with explosion, frantic crowdsurfings ( Thomas Wallestein, lead singer of Captain Fausto and Moderns, was one of the brave crowdsurfers ), to the rhythm of powerful headbangs the singer, to remember a completely uncontrolled metronome. . The newcomers were without a doubt, one of the winners of the night

The festival of festival-goers, now had a general goal: reach the Lisbon Coliseum to see St. Vincent . Owner of one of the best albums of the year (the namesake “St. Vincent”), Annie Clark, or rather St. Vincent came at the Colosseum stage to reveal the live version of this new phase deranged post “Strange Mercy “. Of discolored and unkempt hair, the US, talented enters stage and between nods and kisses sent by movements reminiscent of a ‘doll-of-string “(which incidentally, are a constant throughout the concert), shoots up immediately the “Rattlesnake”, “Digital Witness” and “Cruel” to the delight of fans. Occasional stops to talk with the public that sometimes lengthen, and earned the artist a few whistles, almost spotted the long-awaited concert. But the St Vincent’s action is like that, made of rhythm oscillations: the frantic riffs of “Birth in Reverse”, quickly moved on to the ballad “I Prefer To Your Love Jesus,” and again to the climactic “Krokodil” culminating a customary crowdsurfing the singer. The opinions provalmente will be divided:. The more theatrical and strange action of Annie Clark may have withdrawn and distanced some viewers, no one will take away the merit of knowing star in a musically unscathed show

Today is instead of the Sharon Van Etten , Perfume Genius , Wild Beasts , among others, terminate the 2nd and last night of this edition of Vodafone Mexefest.
