Carlos do Carmo dedicated the Grammy for Portuguese – Expresso

During an acceptance speech for about six minutes, Carlos do Carmo said divide the Grammy career with the Portuguese, also thanking his family and extolling the virtues of fado “a very good popular music, but poorly known.”

The award ceremony took place at the MGM Hollywood Theatre in Las Vegas, around 10h45 (18h45 in mainland Portugal).

Carlos do Carmo spoke extemporaneously, beginning in Spanish, just to ask the audience permission to proceed in Portuguese.

Before was presented as an artist over 50 years career took fate into various parts the world and helped to put the genre on the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2011.

The Brazilian Ney and Mexican Los Lobos were some of the other artists who also received the award for musical excellence, the Grammy consecration career.

The annual ceremony of the Latin Grammy in different categories will be held on Thursday from 20h (5am Friday in mainland Portugal).
