The Vodafone Mexefest was again a success, to exhaust his passes, with the record of 13,000 people present in what is becoming the largest Lisbon festival of the cold season.
This year, the map moves between rooms down a little further down, between the St. George (the middle of Liberty Avenue), the Anthony doors (the street the Opera House and the Casa do Alentejo) and Restorers (again, with the Rossio Station in use) , going off the itinerary area of Marques de Pombal roundabout.
All things good and bad and are repeated as the public’s curiosity to discover new things, to offer free chocolate milk, the chaotic traffic . This is the festival where melomania and olissipomania mix, with more alternative music to invade the heart and above all the soul of capital: between a concert and concert can be a pause to ask a dozen nuts or drinking a ginjinha in some tasco hand.
The Lisbon Coliseum pacified for a year to acorrência heaps of people to more big-name concerts. There is room for all, contrary to what happened in other times with Tivoli. The same can not be said of St. George that proved little more for Perfume Genius which attracted very long queues – a search that asked that the concert was at the Coliseum. Also the route to climb the building staircase where the Gymnasium Athenaeum was long and painful: the Cloud Nothings fans that say. And the hits by the escalators to the Rossio Station may ask an alternative input the ramp (next to Escadinhas the Duke).
It is commendable to bet Mexefest in national music, especially in new talent, as the humorous EME, Ana Cláudia or Sensible Soccers. And earn enough with shows like Capicua (with several dancers, a b-boy and still Gisela John and Aline Frazão) and always empenhadíssimos Clan (counting on you Songbook Sérgio Godinho and an inspired Samuel Úria). The level of international names concerts, we were also impressed with St. Vincent, Wild Beasts and Tune Yards in the Coliseum; the brave punkalhada of Cloud Nothings in moshódromo the Athenaeum; or funky party of Kindness overlooking the Castelo de São Jorge in the Rossio Station.
Do not expect anything other than a new edition in 2015.
