The Portuguese were less to the cinema in 2013 – Journal SUN

These results were calculated based on the data sent by the country’s movie theaters to the Institute of Cinema, Audiovisual (ICA), according to the project of computerising ticket.

In these enclosures have been viewed 1,042 films (of which 348 in debut), having performed 558 161 cinema sessions, with a total of 12.5 million viewers and 65.5 million in box office receipts euros.

In all, the INE analyzed data submitted by 158 theaters, corresponding to 554 screens and 105,364 seats.

Only the last two years there were less 3.2 million viewers in the movie theaters: less 1.3 million in 2013 and 1.9 million less last year.

By region, was in Lisbon held the largest number of sessions (44% of total), concentrating 47.5% of viewers and 49.6% of the box office.

The North region has 29.1% of the total sessions, 30.9% of viewers and 28.8% of revenues, followed by the Central region with 17.2% of sessions and 14% of viewers, and the box office.

Of all the films screened, 25.4% were American films, concentrating 61.6% of sessions, 63 2% of viewers and 63.5% of total box office.

Co-productions accounted for 31.8% of the films shown, 21.5% of the sessions and the 19% of viewers and revenue.

In the view of the 357 European films in 15.1% of the sessions corresponded 16% of total viewers and box office.

The 122 Portuguese films (11 7% of the total) were displayed in 2.3% of sessions, recording about three percent of spectators and box office.

In the films of European countries, the highlights were the source French representing seven percent of films shown, viewers and total revenue.

For the quarter, the INE indicates, was the third that recorded the highest number of sessions (27.4%) of spectators and revenues (30%).

The second quarter of 2013 recorded slightest movement, with 22.6% of sessions and 21% of spectators and box office.
