The city of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, was announced on Friday (11) as one of eight creative cities in the world of cinema, the Creative Cities Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Between 47 new members, from 33 countries in seven creative fields like film, crafts and folk art, design, gastronomy, literature, media arts and music, Santos, was the only elected in Brazil.
The Creative Cities Network of UNESCO was launched in 2004 and currently has 116 members. The main objective is to promote international cooperation between local investing in creativity, through a good sustainable urban development, social inclusion and cultural vitality.
To join the inscription on the Creative Cities Network, the city the city created in 2014, a group that worked with local producers and audiovisual collective representatives and universities.
