The Brazilian musicians Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil return together to Portugal for two concerts in April in the coliseums of Porto and Lisbon, it was announced today.
the tour “Two friends, a music century” will April 24 at Oporto Coliseum and 27 of this month in Lisbon.
Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil, both 73, started in 2015 a joint tour to just voice and guitar and has featured more than 40 concerts.
last summer, the two musicians worked in Oeiras, at the end of Festival CoolJazz, returning now to the coliseums.
the show of this tour has also been recorded on a double album and a live DVD, published in January in Portugal.
Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil – who celebrated 50 years of career in 2015 – are two of the renovators of Brazilian popular music, with parallel careers that had many points of contact since the 1960s, the tropicalism times and exile in Europe until today <. /> p>
The repertoire that have brought together on stage includes, for example, “bum Heart” by Caetano Veloso, “Every Bahian girl”, by Gilberto Gil, or “Sunday in the park”, which recorded live in 1969 on the album “Bar 69″.
the two authors have also interpreted the latest song they wrote together, the first in over 20 years, titled “the camellias of Leblon quilombo.”
