the National Art Museum (NMAA) , similar to what had happened with the National Gallery in London, will feature 31 reproductions of works of art in the areas of Chiado, Bairro Alto and Prince Royal. The project is called “ComingOut. And if the museum leave the street? “ and comes of this, the possibility of finding classical masterpieces through the streets we walk every day.
But these reproductions count as art? The NMAA ensures that the replicas that will be scattered Lisbon are very high quality, full scale, and accompanied by wooden frames and tables, as it is exposed in any museum.
And what we can see? “Portrait of King Sebastian”, painted in 1571 by Christopher de Morais, “Salome with the Head of John the Baptist”, painted by Lucas Cranach the Elder, in 1510-1515, “Lady of Sorrows” by Quentin Metsys , 1511, and “Virgin with the Child and Saints” by Hans Holbein the Elder, painted in 1519, are some of the reproductions that will be in the classic Lisbon streets. It was prepared over several months and involved the study of the properties of several streets, as well as a personalized letter for all, signed by the president of the municipality, Fernando Medina, and the director of the NMAA, António Filipe Pimentel.
