More than one million visitors are expected in the field of People’s Parties Staff, plucking today and run until the 30th, presenting this edition, 100 streets “bedecked” with flowers, fruit and foliage of paper.

According to John Rosie, this year’s edition of the parties, will be a “contribution” to the application, waiting for the organizers who, in 2017, UNESCO recognized the event as a “world wonder”.
Parties Field of Higher People have no fixed periodicity, performing, say campomaiorenses when the people want. The biggest attraction are the ornaments of the streets, especially the historic center, but the initiative also has an extensive program of entertainment and performances.
People’s parties are internationally recognized for its originality and popular character with the inhabitants prepare for months, the decorations that are different in every street. Secular tradition, have been held for the last time in 2011, after a gap of seven years.
For the first time, entries will be charged, costing four euros a daily ticket, with free parking. Residents or natural of Campo Maior and relatives to the second degree, workers in the county and children up to the age of 10 are exempt from paying entries.
Four years after the last edition, village expects to receive more than one million visitors in nine days of celebration. Through this event, organizers say, the population of Campo Maior shows the world its greatest tradition as well as the value of its people and their ability to receive.
In just 15 years, between 1989 and 2004, the number of visitors doubled, surpassing one million people in 2011. The success of all issues, say the promoter association is due to the amazing diversity of street decoration.
The paper flowers and Campo Maior People’s Parties constitute a unique heritage, although in recent decades have begun to emerge in various parts of festivities country with strong inspiration in Campomaiorense tradition.
The economic, social and cultural impact of this iniicativa take effect within a radius of 100 km, providing a strong contribution to stimulate various sectors of the county and neighboring counties.
The official opening of the celebrations takes place this morning at the Cultural Centre Campo Maior and will be attended by the President of the Board of the Spanish Extremadura, Guillermo Fernández Vara.
