Puerto Rico confirms first case of microcephaly fetus in pregnant infected with Zika – RTP


 “This case saddens us and worries us because it highlights the risk of detection of new cases,” said the Control Center and US Prevention, confirming the diagnosis.
 

 The Control and Prevention American Center conducted laboratory tests that confirmed the diagnosis of the Ministry of Health of Puerto Rico.
 

 Secretary of Health of Puerto Rico, Ana Rius, said in a statement that the case of microcephaly was diagnosed with ultrasound.
 

 The fetus was suffering from a “severe microcephaly with calcification in the brain where the Zika virus was present,” he added.
 

 The World Health Organization held in February, the Zika as a global medical emergency.
 

 In Puerto Rico, where she died a person due to the virus have been registered so far 925 cases of Zika, including 18 in pregnant women.
