Serpa 14 Nov (AP) – The Municipality of Serpa today challenged the transfer of the Hospital of St. Paul, located in the city, Santa Casa da Misericordia, showing concern about the future of the health unit.
The Ministry of Health and the Union of Portuguese Mercies have signed the protocol which returns hospitals Fafe, Anadia Serpa and the local Mercy Hospitals and marks the beginning of the transfer process for these public hospitals institutions.
In a statement sent to Lusa, Alentejo municipality, led by the CDU, “reiterates its total disagreement” regarding the transfer of the hospital to the Santa Casa da Misericordia de Serpa, arguing that “the provision of essential health services should continue to be managed by the Ministry of Health “, by Local Health Unit of the Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA).
The House of Serpa also expressed” great concern “about the Future of the Hospital of St. Paul and back to demand the increase of skills of the health unit “according to the needs” of the people of the county and the other counties of the left bank of the river Guadiana.
