António Sérgio died 5 years ago: the documentary about his life … – Blitz

António Sérgio, perhaps the most influential music publisher in Portugal, is the inspiration of the latest documentary by Eduardo Morais, author of Half Metro Stone , about the history of rock in Portugal, and Music Powder , dedicated to portray the cult around vinyl.

Howl , is the name of the movie that honors the “Wolf” debuts today with an exhibition at the Palacio Foz in Lisbon, when they spend five years on the unexpected disappearance of the influential broadcaster.

“Unlike my previous documentaries,” says the filmmaker, “the Howl has the peculiarity and uniqueness of thematic focus, namely, the importance of national life and a personality only, and not a collection of stories. ” Eduardo Morais explains that had the close collaboration of John and Helena Fagundes Pombeiros, what makes Howl unless your individual project.

Ana Cristina Sting, widow of António Sérgio, was, of course, a key element in this production. “When, in July 2013, Eduardo contacted me by email, I told him we talked in August and they did. We scored against, the Cinematheque port in Lisbon. It seemed appropriate, then saw many films that tattooed me soul. From that time until today is history, “says the broadcaster and author who worked alongside António Sérgio in many projects, including the legendary Sound Front, but also the Manifesto supplement which was published for a few years with the BLITZ newspaper.

“The primary goal of this documentary was always honor and explain to a new audience who was António Sérgio and its position in the Portuguese musical universe,” explains Eduardo Morais. “For this, during 55 days 35 interviewed classmates, friends, family and admirers of radio, such as Ana Cristina Sting, Zé Pedro, António Manuel Ribeiro, The Gift, Fernando Ribeiro, Jorge Mourinha, Nuno Galopim, Nuno Calado, Tó Trips Pedro Ramos, among others. ”

The director also said that there should be a physical edition of Howl with seal of Chaosphere / Raging Planet “which will complement a number of other tributes, these written by various friends António Sérgio, transformed into a book. ”

After the premiere at Palacio Foz, Howl goes to Barcelos (November 6), Coimbra (8), Portalegre (10), White Castle (11), Guard (12 ), Bragança (13), Viseu (15), Porto (19), Braga (20), Barreiro (21), Rio Maior (22), Aveiro (27), Vale de Cambra (28), Caldas da Rainha (29 ), Setúbal (December 6), Beja (12), Faro (13), Évora (20).
